Lady's leg is a collector's term for this genre of bottle, the name being taken from the shape of the neck of the body. The actual use of this bottle has maintained a degree of uncertainty; there are some scholars that state that this was used for whiskey and other spirits, while others state that this bottle was for the popular herbal bitters of the day.
Whatever the end use, the shape of this bottle is classic and particular to the 1860's. Specimens of this bottle were found on the Arabia, Bertrand and the S.S. Republic. While all the bottles in our glassware line cost less than originals, the "lady's leg" is a desirable collector's piece, and the prices of originals range from $90 to the thousands of dollars. Consequently, you would not want to bring an original "lady's leg" into the field for reasons of both the historical and monetary value.
